wouldn't recommend going to Russia right now anon. They're regularly imprisoning foreigners for any crime they think up. It's not worth it honestly

The visa process is the same regardless of where you live. You can apply directly at your embassy but the usual, easier and barely more expensive way to do it is by contacting a visa agency operating in your country.

Of course you wouldn't know this since you've never travelled beyond /misc/.

For some countries it used to be easier and cheaper to fly to Tbilisi, apply for a visa at the Russian interest section of the Swiss embassy spend an extended weekend there or in Batumi and pick up the visa before heading straight to Russia.
Obviously, the sanctions very likely changed the entire situation.

It's not even close. The difficulty and expense of obtaining a Russian visa varies greatly and is totally based on how much of a pain in Putin's ass your country has been. Some nationalities don't require a visa at all.

Getting a Russian visa is not a niche thing moron. You just order one at a Russian visa agency operating in your home country. Fill in some forms. Pay the goy fee. That's a all there is to it.
