>The brother of a jobless man who managed to fly from London to New York City without a passport or plane ticket was devastated after learning he managed to 'dodge security at the UK's biggest airport'.
>Craig Sturt, 46, is accused of 'tailgating' another traveller through security and passport checkpoints at Heathrow's Terminal 5 and enjoying free food and drinks on the long-haul British Airways flight before landing at JFK airport.
>He is said to have been detained by armed US officials after they found he had no documentation and was sent back to the UK on a charter flight. He was then hand-delivered to Met Police and arrested before being taken to a hospital in Reading.
>But Sturt, who was later charged with Fraud and Aviation Security Act offences, has allegedly escaped the hospital and not been seen since, having become the subject of a missing person's appeal.
Anyone who defies the global cabalistic rules will disappear without a trace. You know what happened to him and you know who did it but you can never prove it. And if you dig deeper, you will only dig your own grave.
Wait a second. What are you implying anon. You think they Clinton'd him??
yeah or maybe he's just sleeping in a bush cos he's got no money
they should also have checked his boarding pass when he got on board but there have been plenty of times i've got on flights and the crew are just yapping with each other or too preoccupied with other stuff to bother about me.
really he's lucky the flight clearly wasn't fully booked. or he could have bullshitted a bit more and ended up flying the thing
mad lad, airport diversity hire employees on suicide watch
the uk doesn't have exit checks but he would have had to scan a boarding pass to go through the gates at security and the airline should have checked his passport before he was allowed to board
I mean, he looks like he got nothing to lose. I'd probably do risky shit like that if I looked like him.
The real question here is how in fresh hell did he managed to slip through at least TWO immigration counters? I don't know about Heathrow or whatever NYC airport he flew into, but based on my experiences in all the airports I been to, it should be close to impossible to go through immigration checkout counters without being noticed. Even airport workers need to display and verify their worker pass each time in order to get into or out of the terminal. Extremely unlikely to succeed without detection, even before 9/11.
just carelessness on the part of airport staff who don't give a shit
at heathrow t5, the journey goes like this:
i've usually already checked in online- so i go to bag drop- but i don't need to do that if i have no checkin bags- just go to the next step
there's a barrier where you scan your boarding pass to get through an automated barrier- this could be a paper boarding pass or on a phone- there is a person sitting at the side of the barrier but they are usually staring off into space or yapping with another staff member- could tailgate another passenger just by pretending to put your phone on the scanner- the gate stays open for a few seconds
go through security- no documents are checked at this point
go to gate- there are usually a few staff around the gate but they are always dealing with other passengers or busybodying around or yapping with their mates- could just wait until they are all busy then sneak behind them- there are plenty gaps
get on the plane- the crew don't always check your boarding pass on board
TLDR basically there were three points where he had to be lucky- the boarding pass barrier, the gate, the plane door
quite often airport staff are lazy and don't give a shit and a lot of them seem to only exist to obstruct passengers, hopefully at least a few of them will get a good yelling-at for this incident
Strange how he was not caught on the plane. The crew is supposed to do a headcount and know which seats should be empty.
Uh no. That's not how it works. Airplanes aren't like primary school buses going on a field trip...
People move around and switch seats all the time, easy to lose track of who should be where
They do count passengers. The flight attendants walk the aisles and count how many people are on board which is compared to the manifest and make sure everyone has their seat belt on and tray table up, if you haven't noticed them doing this.
Or they miscounted by 1 and came up with the number on the manifest.
I don't think 20 year old airplane roasties can count that well or do they care
i have seen the crew do this on some flights, using one of those little thumb clicker counters like pic related
easy to dodge by hiding in the toilet or something i suppose
