so I havent been there but I have some friends there.
travel to many cities is restricted, and I think there is a security process when boarding interstate or intercity buses.
for certain, many states are either completely inaccessible or you will need to apply for special travel permissions, according to the state
for what its worth a lot of youtubers have started returning to myanmar.

I'm thinking about visiting Yangon next year for maybe a month. Would probably just stay in the city. That's got to be safe and easy enough, right?
yangon should be safe. my friends have mentioned that the civil war and sanctions are causing poverty to rise however. where it used to be one of the, or the number one, safest country in southeast asia, as of late, pickpocketing has been on the rise.

That was actually the case, probably to a lesser degree, even before the coup. I went there in about 2015 and about half the country was off limits. It was basically just a fat strip in the middle of the country and most (all?) of the coast along Thailand that was open. It was special permits for everywhere else.
Lol I was watching the first episode of the Anthony Bourdian CNN documentary/propaganda and got a hearty chuckle. So much bullshit in that show, you could tell right away with the Myanmar episode.

I almost went biking there. Got to Imphal and a car bomb went off at the Indian border. Drone strikes were happening too. Not sure if it's cleared up. Lots of coomers waiting on the sidelines though as its sure to be a veritable smorgasbord when things cool off.
