      where do you find them?

Italy has prettier cities and better weather. Czech has better beer, better nightlife and friendlier people. Austria has better skiing and better scenery. Central Spain has better weather, better beaches, prettier cities and it's about the same price. Croatia is better in nearly every way but price. Slovenia has better scenery and it's the same price. Southern France has better wine, beaches and Roman ruins. All these places are about the same price to visit, give or take about 20 percent. Why would you choose Poland? If I wanted b***hes, I'd go to Thailand.

I'm too afraid that english isn't spoken too much there. I'll learn basic Polish words for formality, but still afraid that english won't go far. Maybe it's better than France and Italy when it comes to compromise with english.

I love going to Poland as an upper-middle class American guy.

lol as a Polish expat I granted my Polish cousin her wish and took her to NYC. We had an AirBnB in Brooklyn and it was something to walk back to the apartment at 2am and see all the trash on the street, which doesn't get cleaned for days (if ever). she also saw all the Black folk panhandling for cash or trying to sell drugs/mixtapes,
I think I cured her of NYC/America-is-the-best fever and she ended up getting engaged to a nice Polish grug.

Western European large cities have around 50% of the native population replaced whereas in Danzig close to 100% of the locals had been replaced by foreigners.

kek, I recently went to my German grandmas city of Breslau. Kind of amusing really, the displays are full of the German art and works but labelled as "Silesian", while they also pretend the Poles there are an ethnic minority called "Silesians" so it's gaslighting you that it's their history. I didn't see any outright lies but it definitely felt like they are purposely leaving plenty blank and leading you to fill them in that most would just assume it's all just Polish. I'm sure plenty of people leave that place not knowing it was ever actually a German city for a while, let alone 700 years

All the germs in Silesia were colonizers though. And Wrocław got absolutely leveled in 1945. Also, Ostrów Tumski (part of Wrocław) is fully Polish for example.

(And it's Ostrów Tumski in your pic, including the cathedral founded by a Polish bishop, designed and built by Poles)

          >the displays are full of the German art and works but labelled as "Silesian"
I'm not sure what you're referring to. I assume it's the National Museum - I haven't been there in a decade, but the first floor was always a local display of, yes, Silesian artifacts. As in doesn't matter who made them, just that they come from this historical region. Including the Duchy of Silesia, which was Polish up to the XIVth century. I have no idea about specific exhibits nowadays though.
          >they also pretend the Poles there are an ethnic minority called "Silesians"
That's the most adorably ridiculous thing I've heard. Nobody, absolutely nobody does that. When you talk about Silesians in Poland, you mean UPPER Silesians. They loudly claim they're a minority called Silesians, with their own robust dialect and a strong regional identity. Nobody calls themselves a "Silesian"" in Lower Silesia because we have nothing in common with those people. In fact, there's very little regional identity because the land is a melting pot of people originally from all over Poland, mostly what's now Ukraine.
Nobody I know in this city has ever had any problem admitting the long German history. Not the teachers in school, not the museum guides, not the people. Seems to me like you're just butthurt it doesn't say "German btw :^)" under every picture. Like the one in your post depicting the cathedral, which coincidentally dates back all the way to the Polish period.

In my mind I couldn't help but to keep comparing the approach took here with "Oświęcim", where they will go to great lengths to remind you it had nothing to do with Poland or Polish people and was entirely the fault of Germans, in every sentence 🙂

The native population returned to Gdańsk. You're a dumb germ who would have a swarthy wife's boyfriend if he wasn't an incel.
        >Danzig doesn't mean anything in German. It's just a germification of Gdańsk, founded in the 900s
        >the Teutons massacred the local population in 1308, Gdańsk returned to Poland in the 1400s and remained part of Poland until 1795 and then from 1918-1945 onward first as free city and again as Poland rightfully

Turkey is just a cheap labor destination that attracts offshoring investment from European multi-nationals. I don't why that practice is allowed since Turkey is a hostile country that uses every leverage it gets against Europe. It is a slow burn Iran, but the Turkish Islamists are more cunning and deceptive and instead seek to undermine the West from within. Thus they are more dangerous than the Iranian clerics

I doubt it where do you find these prostitutes if brothels are nonexistent.
I know about escorts/ old Roxa, thing is these are prostitutes with pimp and they have mostly bad reviews on garsoniera (polish prostitute enthusiasts forum) or no reviews so you buy "cat in a bag".

This. It's a nice enough place, but anything Poland has some other country does it better. It doesn't help that some of Poland's most vibrant cities like Lwów are under foreign occupation and stripped of their heritage

How many precisely? There are fewer Polish citizens outside Poland, anywhere else in the world, than Ukrainian immigrants ALONE within Poland.
Not even counting the 1 million refugees. Immigrants.

there are around 25 million people of Polish descent spread around the globe not living on historically Polish clay. from canada and france to Brazil and even Haiti, South Africa, and australia

Boring industrial city of little history. You can look into touring some old metal mill or a mine if you're into that but that's pretty much it, there's not much to do otherwise. Łódź is honestly a depressing shithole for connoisseurs of dead industry and urban decay. There's a few nice townhouses and a single renovated main street, but the moment you turn into one of the side alleys it's crumbling buildings again.
I guess the movie studio's museum might be cool if you're nostalgic for soviet era kid shows and want to see the puppets - though I'm not sure how much of it had reached Hungary.

We definitely had shows from all over the block, Polish, Czech(oslovakian) animation I recall for sure, I think from the rest of the block we mostly had live action movies and series. I don't care if I don't recognize them btw, I'm a massive cinema history nerd.

Łódź has the most beautiful, preserved 19th century industrial town street: the Piotrkowska St. which serves as the high/main st.

I admit that Zdanowska has turned Piotrkowska street into a sweet little Potemkin village, but by and large, the majority of Łódź looks like the pic above at its best, some commieblocks interspersed, with obligatory "Żydzew" or "ŁS" graffiti wherever you go. Step into any of the townhouse courtyards or staircases and you're suddenly back to bumtown. You can even run into goddamn crumbling wooden houses in Bałuty, in the XXIst century. It's a long dead city with no future.

I'm not sure if people here are serious about criticizing Poland, considering its cities are renowned tourist spots. I'm planning to visit Warsaw and Krakow, perhaps next year. >poland is great for tourism
It just doesn't have a massive draw compared to the rest. People always ask this shit, "omg why don't more people come to X they always visit Y instead" well yeah, Y has a ton more shit on offer! Say i'm going to europe, where would I stop? Poland or Spain? Poland or Italy? Poland or Prague? Poland or France? Poland or Bavaria? Poland or Hungary? It's a nice place, it's a great stop, but its surrounded by a lot more attractive offers to the point that it won't jump ahead of them.

It's the same thing with Korea. Why don't people want to go to South Korea so much? Vietnam has better nature tourism with cave systems, China has better megacities, Japan has better historical tourism, it's not much cheaper than Japan or China, it's definitely not cheaper than Vietnam, Thailand or the Phillipines, it doesn't have beach life like Viet, Thai and Flip. Is Korea a bad stop? Not at all. But compared to everything around it, it doesn't have enough of a draw to make you want to put it above and beyond literally every other offer available.

Comparing Poland to South Korea is brutal. South Korea has no history and no culture. Italy is a great tourist destination, sure, maybe even the greatest. But besides Italy, I think Poland is really great for tourism. It's similar to Italy in a lot of ways except the scorching weather, filth and terronis everywhere. It's authentic, a ton of history, cool stuff to see and do, it has both the sea and mountains, a lake district, even a whole NP of large sand dunes and a mini desert!
It's not a traditional place for tourism like Mallorca or Greece where you stay in a hotel maybe go out into a small white town eat souvlaki etc. But it's simply a fun place to visit that's better than others. Prague is just 1 city and overrated imo. Poland is Sarmatia, the Commonwealth, Krakow depicts a great past, Warsaw presents a great present and future. It's cool.

Also, Poland still has a bigger foreign tourist industry than the likes of Brazil, obviously double that of Czechia, more than Russia (prewar), etc. Idk how the stats look for South Korea but yeah, unfair comparison

My point is, Poland is an entire civilization of its own.

2019 just makes it worse. Post-2022, they're all on asylum, not tourist visas.
If it's based on hotel stays though then it's more legit. Fair point, can't even be entry-based courtesy of Schengen.

I work for the Polish government and am based overseas; as a foreigner (outside looking in) - I find Polish people to be good intentioned, but stubborn most times. Somehow, this situational sstubbornness works for them over there - because things actually work (in the cities, at least.

Went to Krakow in 2017 and Warsaw last year, we had a good time. I don't think I'll go back visiting those two cities but I will definitely go leaveand again, maybe to visit Gdansk, Stettino and some other ex German cities. I'm a big history-boo like any other nerd in this IB so I would like to visit Westerplatte. Plus a visit to Auschwitz, but i think it would be too soulcrushing.

Poles on this board are often too hard with themselves. You guys managed to rebuild your country after decades of war, foreign occupation and looting. You're doing a good job, you went to Belarus tier to 1st world in the span of 30 years, that speaks a lot about you guys.

These are Polish cities, with a Polish history, unjustly subjugated by Germany in the 19th century, justly regained. Almost completely wrecked in 1945, and now they're beautiful.

Id recommend Poland for a visit but not if you're coming from North America. You might as well go to the Standard Western European spots. It's really no longer a cheap country to visit and really only worth it if you're living in one of its neighboring countries or you have a hard-on for history.
As for cooming the days are long over where you can wave a US passport and a 20 dollar bill and have the girls come running. Youre going to have to bring more to the table for casual hookups.
As for paying for sex there are better countries in Europe where its less underground and the price difference is minimal. Poland is dodgy in this regard and ive heard some horror stories.
Poland is good for history, architecture, and a good pub crawl. Pretty close to German prices at this point

        >it is cheap, just not the tourist traps
Not any more, not really. Inflation is out of control. He's right that there's now practically zero price shock when going between Germany and Poland.
It's honestly getting absurd. A friend of mine who lives in a border town has recently moved to the German side and crosses the bridge daily to work at her business in Poland - purely because she's saving significantly on rent and utilities. If you came up with something like that a few years ago, people would tell you to quit doing drugs.

That's bull. Germany has suffered from huge inflation WITHOUT any wage increase, in fact they've also scored a nominal wage DECREASE. The only place where there's no big price shock are the tourist traps on the border with Germany like Świnoujście, because there people make money off of German tourists with their euros.
As for me, I get a sufficiently large portion in a bowl of fish and chips with lemon and sauces (ketchup and whatever else you pick) n shit pretty much right by the sea/by the cove, on the Hel Peninsula, for just 29 zł at a nice spot. While eating you can enjoy the Sun setting across the water. My girl got a huge plate of meat and potatoes in a sauce, idk if it was pork or beef (seriously, I don't, maybe it was beef) for just 30 zł. These are nice spots IN, you would think, tourist traps. Then in cities there are those bar mleczny "milk bars" where you can get Polish cuisine for a really, really cheap price, if that's what you're going for.

            >Germany has suffered from huge inflation WITHOUT any wage increase, in fact they've also scored a nominal wage DECREASE
Compound inflation since Covid is double that of Germany. Wages are largely irrelevant to tourists, but the only reason they've seen any growth is the ridiculous pumping of the legal minimum wage by nearly a half of its value within three years. For the most part people who were already earning above it saw virtually no increase in their salary.
~3.5 euro for a beer, 6-7 euro for Chink takeaway or kebab and 8 for a one person pizza is hardly anything to write home about and it's pretty much the standard price now, nearly double what it used to be back when EE was a cheap destination where you'd go to stretch your money far. Is it cheaper to go tour Poland than Western Europe? A bit, yeah. Most definitely when compared to dedicated tourist trap cities like Florence of Barcelona. Is it cheap? Nope, that's long gone. You will not be reenacting the Eurotrip Slovakia scene any more, you actually have to think about your spending nowadays.

homie. I talked about the same statistics and where do they come from. Hell, you didn't even post relevant ones like compound inflation over the last four years, just nov 2021-2022 specifically, which tells frick all beyond the fact that Europe got universally rekt by the war.
And that's on top of wages and purchasing power being utterly, completely fricking irrelevant to a tourist who cares more about his hotel and restaurant bill than any of this crap. You're arguing "POLAND ROCKS, GERMAN SHOCKED", I'm arguing "not really a particularly cheap destination".

I had the opportunity to visit Poland once, and a standout experience was visiting the Państwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, which is an incredibly impactful tourist destination. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoyed dining at Polish restaurants. What made it convenient was that I didn't need to carry cash; I simply converted my GBP or USD into Polish Zloty using the Tap app to pay for goods and services.

They say it's one of the most underrated countries in Europe. Like, it's the same Europe but less famous. What do you all think?

I think it's because of the immigrants who flooded Western Europe. Before the immigrants, The West was the best, while Poland was just a Poland

      >Before the immigrants, The West was the best, while Poland was just a Poland
Poland was Poland and Poland remains Poland and Poland will remain Poland. That in itself makes it different from the rest of The West. There was something different about the rest of The West, something so cucked and as if the rest of The West stopped having any identity.

Brit here, just arrived to Wroclaw, my final stop on my short Europe trip. Just found out that England play a football match v Ukraine here tomorrow by the presence of half the population of the town right now being the lowest iq Brits you could imagine. Trip completely ruined (again)

It was quite devastating to figure out, I don't wanna be surrounded by these morons so I'm gonna be doing my best to avoid it all weekend. My bus from Prague has a few Brits on of the football moron age and look... ok not too unusual I guess, then almost the first thing I saw in Wroclaw was a Black walking around in an England top... ok a bit unusual but could just be a one off, then I got to the old town and all the bars were packed with their stupid fricking football flags hanging everywhere is where it really clicked. Luckily I booked a really nice hotel a while back before all the prices for this weekend doubled

How is the TInder working in Poland? Is it possible to have hook ups with polish girls in just 1-2-3 days or they prefer a romantic 2 week relationship at least?

The rebuilt parts of Poland are very practical but totally devoid of cultural value, it's not laughably cheap as it used to be, sex tourists prefer to have the meat travel to them not the other way around.

I found the tourist attractions unengaging and sombre, polish national pride has created no fun zones in some places.

Polish people are nice, I like them but many live in my country as well so I don't exactly need to go to Poland to meet poles.
Also israeli tourism is really gay and invasive, how many anne frank houses do you need?

Not all cities were destroyed and so they didn't have to be rebuilt. Kraków, the main tourist hotspot of Poland, was miraculously left untouched in WW2 before the germans could destroy it in any way. Same goes for lesser known places like Lublin/Zamość I think. Most famed reconstructions are the Old Towns of Warsaw and Gdańsk.
I recommend the port city of Gdynia (near Gdańsk) as an entirely "new" city founded in the 1920s, full of interesting untouched prewar modernism and prewar modernist urban design.

The cheapest food is in so-called "milk bars" (bar mleczny), really cheap, soup and main course for just a couple of bucks. Traditional Polish cuisine, too.

Is visiting Poland in May the best idea?

      Anonymous

Probably, yeah. May is the nicest month of the year if you ask me. Green, not overly hot but still pleasantly warm, doesn't rain much and all the kids are stuck in school so tourist traps aren't packed - with one exception, that is. 1st and 3rd of May are national holidays, avoid the first week of the month like the plague, everywhere will be packed to the brim.

Anyone been to Kazimierz Dolny? It's a small untouched medieval town, very pretty

      Anonymous

Its been very touched during the war, as you can plainly see whe you walk around and see that most of the buildings outside of the market square are either commie concrete boxes or new single family houses.

        Anonymous

There are great ravines in the vicinity of Kazimierz Dolny, you can feel like in the Witcher 3. I spent a total of 2 months in Poland with my wife and greatly recommend that location

          Anonymous

yup the nature is cool and there are even some vineyards in the vicinity close to the vistula in addition to the ravines but the hype around historic Kazimierz is in my opinion as a local overblown. A much better preserved historic city nearby is Zamość the old district of that city has been mostly untouched

I want to visit Poland - Krakow. I'm interested in what's the public transport within Krakow is like (trains? busses? any way to buy public transit pass that lasts several days?) and what's the best way to travel between cities and how expensive are the tickets.
    Thanks in advance!

      Anonymous

The public transport is good. I recommend the app jakdojade, you can also buy tickets there, remember to scan the necessary QR code though.
The best way to travel between cities is either by train (google intercity bilety/tickets when you're in Poland) or plane, but charter buses are also OK - Polski Bus etc.

Absolutely finest beaches I have ever seen around Wolin and Swinoijscie, and all of the comfy coastal towns going into Germany are connected by bike paths with Germans coming to Poland and Polaks raiding Germany, lmao. Very comfy and relaxing area.

I just spent 2 months there and out of the 30+ countries I've been in it's the only one I wouldn't recommend.
I don't care about tourist attractions and cooming but I'm sure there's hundreds of better places to do that.
I'm quite trad and don't mind racism shit, but they're as fat and degenerate than in any other countries, also every one is alcoholic.
It was just expensive and depressing, go to Slovakia or Albania instead.
