What city in the path of totality should I visit for the eclipse, given that I want to be the cheapest possible?
Would be staying for around 3 days, just for the event. I would think cities with international airports such as Dallas, Indianapolis or Cleveland would be the cheapest. What are other major attractions in these parts?
UFOs Are A Psyop Shirt $21.68 |
I've already looked into it and many of the better hotels are well sold out in most cities and I last looked around last Halloween and even the mid hotels are selling out.
I live near Philly and I've made the notion to drive from here the day before and sleep in my car...where I go depends on the weather, I can drive many miles long distance.
If you don't have that option, fly to somewhere cheap like Atlanta or Chicago and rent a cheap room and car and drive to a spot to view (weather dependent).
I also live in philly and plan to go to Eerie area but maybe stay an hour away from total path and drive to it day of and chill in the pa wilds that weekend
Also Philly, going to Austin
it's too late, the normies got wind of it and sold out every hotel anywhere near it
fricking normgroids ruin everything
It's interesting that you're the one booking a hotel late, but still calling others normies.
Just go wherever you're closest to
pretty rough choices there
Fly in to San Antonio and then drive down to Piedras Negras, Mexico.
I don't have mexican visa
besides being cheap, is there anything worth seeing there? is there a overland border cross? is it safe?
Austin it is
Usually most of central Texas will be overcast in April but I'm hopeful.
I live in San Antonio area, it was overcast for the October one but you could still see the eclipse with the special lenses even if you couldnt see anything with the naked eye.
Btw anyone is coming down to San Antonio for it.. I know a perfect neighborhood spot that was great this past October, only locals, no tourists will be there. Lmk if anyone needs the rundown.
That's where I will be. Maybe we can have a SighSee meetup?
No you're an annoying gay
Fine, we'll have the meetup without you then
i already live in the middle of nowhere but right in the middle of the path. shit's gonna get crazy here, they've been planning for years. and i live in bfe. if you don't already have a place, you're probably fricked. maybe look into campgrounds or some shit? i know our fairgrounds is opening up for campers but i don't know how full that already is. you also have to remember that traffic will be insane those few days.
Cleveland GODS get to see this for free
You know as well as I do it’s going to be overcast
We still get to have midnight at 3pm thoughever. Kinda cool.
I for one shall be going to Watertown and tripping massive balls watching this happen
>tfw live in path of totality
catch it with a telescope
Not needed. Yku can make a pinhole projector for nothing, or get ecliose gkasses, either will allow you to wAtch progress until totality. Pro Tip: During totality, dont just stare at the corona. Look around, note whether you can spot planets and stars, etc... doing more than just sraring at one thi g helos make the experience of watching an eclipse seem to last longer. Obviously watch the eclipse as well!
So what's there to do down in Dallas?
I still need to sort out the family members who can or can't go, but Texas is a top choice for me and most likely them as we previously lived there. Regardless of who goes to which city, I'm looking forward to it.
Any anons here who haven't purchased their solar eclipse glasses better consider doing so sooner or later before everything sells out.
If you are a theme park person, Six Flags Over Texas is the first theme park opened by Six Flags. I might have gone there as a child, but I wouldn't remember anything about it.
>6 Flags over Texas
>Ross Perot Museum
>Dallas Aquarium
>Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
>Reunion Tower (the big ball in the skyline)
>Dallas Mavericks/Stars game if you're into Basketball or Hockey
>JFK Museum (6th Floor Museum)
>Fort Worth Stockyards
>Fort Worth Zoo
>Cowboys Stadium tour (if you're into that kind of stuff)
Dallas also has pretty much any kind of food you could want and itll probably be good. I live here and its not amazing but theres enough stuff to do to make a 3-5 day trip fun.
Nice. Wasn't there a NASA or spaceflight museum around there too?
Nah thats in Houston
Drive in a car and be miserable in traffic for 3 hours. Spend money and gawk at the homeless. Smoke weed with the blacks, under the radar.
If it was guaranteed to be sunny I would say go to Montreal and drive south to Vermont for the day but most likely it’ll be cloudy.
>that I want to be the cheapest possible?
That ship has sailed. Places that are not booked up jacked their prices months ago.
