The McDonald's menu is different in every country to adapt to local taste. When I had it in the Philippines they gave you rice with your breakfast and had fried chicken on the menu along with spaghetti.

How is Laos as a sexpat destination?
Literally the worst country in SEA for it. Maybe only Brunei is worse. Government has a law that makes it illegal for foreign men and Lao women to have sex unless married. Police actually do raids because if they catch foreigners doing prostitution they can get a bribe out of them to supplement their meager income. With that said you can still find it if you look really hard but why bother when Thailand is right next door? There are also upper class places that cater to rich Chinese business men and rich Lao people but they won't let you and they are over priced.
