SF is garbage now. SF 15 years ago would have indeed been the top of the list, but it's totally degraded and pitiful.

Being able to walk around without having to avoid human shit and zombie homeless, all while not worrying about my car being broken into really helps boost the rest of the list up ngl.

This video is from a few days ago so yes the tenderloin is now everywhere, this guy filming gets attacked by a zombie homeless/druggies horde one of whom steps in human shit literally while attacking everyone in SF is now either a zombie druggie or a Karen screeching she's uncomfortable and she doesn't consent

imagine living surrounded by drug zombies and crime and feces and instead what sets you off is someone filming
edit: and then she turns to the men walking around naked to ask them if they can believe this shit

The physical city and landscape of the Bay Area is easily the best, but the people have made the place horrific. It’s not even in the top 3 anymore.

the people are fine. more the local government that's ruined it

The people are not fine. During the scamdemic they treated anyone with an independent thought like a israelite in Nazi Germany. That's why I can't see myself living amongst these psychos ever again. Liberals are tolerable when they are the minority because they can't activate their authoritarian instincts.

            Seattle was like that too.

Same, the a-ha moment for me was when I went to Arizona in the late spring of 2020 and saw kids playing ball at a park. This was not allowed in California at the time, for really dubious reasons. It turns out, the conspiracy theorists were right, transmission of covid outdoors was negligible and children were being forced into unhealthy habits, indoors all the time and online, all to promote a social change towards less resource-intense lifestyles. And blue states were like "restaurants can't serve inside but can make an indoor tent, outside, that's ok." It made no sense and was obviously something that was done to force compliance, ask questions later.

              Anonymous

Ah yes, the restaurant rules. It amused me how hypochondriacs had no problem with strangers preparing their food, but masks were required on the five-to-ten second walk from the entrance to their table. COVID-19 was infectious only to those who were standing apparently.

And then in cities like Oakland and San Francisco restaurants were supposed to deny entry to anyone without a vaccine card, which mostly affected black people since they disproportionally and wisely refused to take it. I noticed many restaurants didn't enforce this mandate however, my guess is they were hurting too much financially.

                Anonymous

Ah, yes, needing a mask to come in but once seated you could take it off. I guess you weren't supposed to take it off until eating but I always did. Didn't get covid. The worst of it all was having this 300 lb black b***h they had who was the public health whatever lecturing you about your health and staying inside on TV everyday. Absolutely insane.

                Anonymous

The whole thing was traumatic, and much worse for places like California since the mandates lasted for so long. I can't imagine what it's like to be a person who still wears a mask-is there a limit on neuroticism? That's why visiting places like San Francisco now is so bizarre, you still have these zombies everywhere and they are about to tip over the edge of sanity for all I know. It's sad but the COVID zombies have become a part of the west coast landscape. (Not sure about other parts of the US.)

What's weird is it's always healthy looking 25-35 year olds doing it meanwhile hospitals don't even require masks around ill patients anymore.

Never been to San Francisco. Honestly areas around LA like Santa Monica, Newport Beach are probably near the top

Newport Beach is beautiful, but there aren't many affordable options if you want to stay for a week. The few nice, semi- affordable places you can rent are booked 6 months out. As a tourist you're better off staying inland a bit in Orange County and driving to the beach. You need a car in Orange County either way. Might as well save a few grand and stay near the airport in Irvine. Lots a really good asian massage places in OC too.

What do you like about Tucson? It looks to me like a run-down desert town with the college its saving grace. The Catalina Foothills seem comfy but there's nothing to do there or in Tucson in general.
