Because most the time that's what hostels are SighSee exaggerates worse than Karens

    What happened
    >american says hello and wants to strike up a conversation
    How it's described per trv
    >this loud obnoxious american was screaming so loud asking people questions and creeping everyone out

    >someone couldn't get comfortable in the cheap bunk near me
    >they were masterbating or having sex all night!

    >some guys woke up early to leave and go out around 7-730
    >before even the sun was rightfully up some blokes managed to be loud and wake everyone up!

    >I left some socks out and it either got cleaned up on accident or something
    >My fricking shit was stolen!

    >some people in the common areas were having beers till late
    >Dude it was a fricking party I could barely stop myself!

    >girl and guys talk
    >dude it was so fricking full of sexpats

Pretty much the only hostel stories I find true are
    >french are always bad
    >people who think they can cook, really can't and shit up the place 99% of the time
    >that one russian guy who does nothing but sits in a corner on his PC
    >isrealis ALWAYS a shit

Most people come to hostels because the location is good for the price and their ideal time is spent shit/shower/shaving with a easier to find social aspect. Use hostelworld reviews to determine a place, generally can get verified reviews and tell if it's a party hostel or not pretty quick.

    >want to book hostel but don't want to sleep with a bunch of randos who will snore
    >private bed at hostel is 9x the price of a 4 bedroom dorm
    How and why the frick?

It's because a private room significantly increases your odds of having sex

Private rooms in a hostel will always be more expensive (and less quality) than a hotel room next door because they're for people who used to do dorm rooms, like the social atmosphere of a hostel, but want a place to frick in if they get lucky or a place to blow up their own shitter.

When nobody approached me and I felt like it I usually just asked where people were from or if they had recommendations, and I got some pretty neat conversations and hangouts out of it.
If you wanted to socialise you fricked up by not either talking to the phone or pool people.

Who knew that the stories told in a site notorious for lying would be fake!?

You're not allowed to lie on SighSee, everything posted here is true.

    how old was everyone?
it was always the 18-23 young people who were the most social (and yes, the most inconsiderate as well)
I've definitely noticed hostels becoming less social as guests got older. But a pushy young extrovert can overcome reticence in older 25+ travelers; beers get cracked, and stories get told.

Fricking hate traveling, but also love it and wish I could do it but I just can't. I hate meeting new people, conversing with hippies and gays alike, feeling uncomfortable and unclean, yet I also hate stagnation, work-routine, living the same place and having no social life.
      Such is life.

Fake story but an important lesson to not take women to a place where you will be physically or socially mogged.

said. You stayed in a hostel when hotels are 10$? Sucks you were dating someone who confuses spirituality with prostitutedom (pro-tip, any chick who is into spirituality is loose).
