I’d rather fly in the specific 737 max that had the door come off, and they just put the thing back on , and it’s held together by duct tape, then fly on

      https://i.imgur.com/yrrHqHQ.jpg

That plane. I’d legit add a layover or fly the next day if I knew ahead of time. I may be stupid but im not suicidal

It's actually hard to screw up being a pilot. Everything is done by the computer these days.

However, the thing that's scared the frick out of me is air traffic controllers having to loosen their hiring criteria to bring more people into the field. There have been a number of close calls in recent years (Tenerife disaster scale) because the new air traffic controllers aren't up to par anymore.

    ?si=dY8cu3BGIup-CrW2

An air traffic controller that screws up will actually get you killed in a fiery death.

The pilot is there for when the autopilot/computer can't deal with emergency circumstances.

What you don't want is a pilot who will argue with the autopilot 'becuz reparashuns an sheeiiit!'

If people could see who their pilot was before travelling, most people wouldn't fly with a black or female pilot.

I had a 9 hour international flight before the pandemic on a full 787. Couldn’t change seats. The black guy next to me smelled so fricking bad it made me nauseous. I didn’t know body odor could be so rancid. I had to pull a hoodie out of my stow bag and face the window the whole flight with my hood covering my nose

WHEN YOU REFUSE TO EVEN BOARD THE PLANE: PICREL

THEY WANT TO STOP YOU FROM HAVING THE FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT.

    >THEY DON'T HAVE TO BAN YOU FROM FLYING, THEY ONLY HAVE TO SHOW YOU WHO WILL BE FLYING YOUR PLANE.

I guess it's time to fly on mid-east/asian airlines where they'll still hire the chud ex-airforce types.

The red line for not boarding is when your flight is on a disaster and death prone killing machine known as the 737 max. PBS made a devastating documentary called "Boeing's Fatal Flaw" on that machine about the frequent crashes around 2018 that kept "mysteriously killing hundreds of people in several crashes:

The gist is that Airbus was eating Boeing's lunch because their planes were more economical in fuel consumption so airlines didn't want to buy 737's. Boeing fitted a much more modern and efficient engine on the older 737 but doing that had unattended consequences for aerodynamics and it produced a very rough ride. So Boeing produced a software system called MCAS that automatically adjusted without pilot input to make the plane ride less jarring, but the software was more aggressive and did more without pilot input than Boeing told the FAA. The FAA didn't do its job because of regulatory capture and the revolving door policy of FAA bigwigs being former Boeing alumni.

Now we hear that the 737 line also has core manufacturing defects, that the fuselage of an Alaska Airlines blew off during flight leaving a gaping hole in the plane at altitude, loss of cabin pressure and two seats flying out.

The 737 is a death trap but the moronic racists here are worried about black or female pilots...

      Correct.
That Malaysian airlines plane that 'disappeared' and crashed. They had a recording of the Muslim pilot praying moments before it crashed and made out that he was some muslim extremist who deliberately crashed the plane.

      >Be pilot
      >Plane computer takes over flight controls and starts overcorrecting and putting plane into dive
      >realize that you can't take back control and you are all fricked and the plane is diving into the sea
      >you realize death is inevitable and start praying
      >happen to be muslim so praying while muslim = terrorist
      >mfw

        Anonymous

Do you have a source for the muslim pilot praying?

Anyway it wouldn't have mattered because MCAS was buggy and too aggressive and under certain conditions it did a direct nosedive and pilot input had no effect or possibility of righting the plane. Basically the bugs in MCAS caused several hundred airline deaths. Even if the pilot preyed it wouldn't matter since the conditions for the nosedive were present.

I can't remember the specifics of the conditions that triggered the nosedive behavior. Or it could have randomly happened. I saw the documentary years ago:

So basically you made it up. Good thing I didn't try searching...

            >I can't remember the specifics of the conditions that triggered the nosedive behavior

Something about turbulence and the pilot pulling back and the computer 'correcting' even more

You don't understand. The 737 when retrofitted with a modern large fuel efficient had a very choppy ride and wouldn't have had any customers because of it. MCAS self corrected with constant micro-adjustments to mitigate that. But a bug under certain conditions made an aggressive nosedive that no amount of pilot input could reverse or undo.

It seems obvious to me that ANY plane should have the option for the pilot to completely override autopilot. Is this not the case?

                Anonymous

The MCAS system was different from the normal autopilot which is just cruise control, and the pilots didn't know anything about it because Boeing didn't put it in the manual (which the FAA approved anyways because all of the top FAA officials are either former employees of Boeing or soon to be employees after they quit)

If the passengers bunch up at the gate and can't form a line, you're flying with ghetto trash who will fill the overheads with their coats and take forever to sit down and will block the aisles. Croatia, for example. I always know when a flight is going to Croatia because the knuckle-dragging morons all try to cut in front of each other at the same time.

      Airlines are also at fault
      >Announce a boarding group
      >Every single person tries to board
      >Don't tell people in wrong group, just let's them on anyway
      What's even the point?

        Anonymous

I always hang back to the last or next to last passenger because I aways get an aisle seat and don't need overhead. It's better for everyone and has always worked until last year, some gate c**t accused me of delaying the flight and put me through some kind of extra security check as punishment and she actually delayed the flight. I've been doing it that way since before sweetie was even born. So she asked me why I felt like delaying everyone's flight - which I fricking didn't do - so I snapped back, because I do whatever I want. I was walking a fine line there, but goddamn these tyrant b***hes who were pouring coffee for a living 6 months ago. They act like their on the front lines of some kind of war and the passengers are the enemy.

They are being enforced more these days. It's easy with automated gates. Then again even that's not terribly time efficient.
        >announce boarding for group 1
        >gate lice swarm gates
        >random moron gets to gate, scans ticket
        >hey THIS IS NOT WORKING WHAT WHY
        >keeps trying for 30 more seconds
        >all this despite the clear announcements about boarding groups and the gate monitor telling him in clear text, wrong boarding group
        >finally moron backs off when staff tells him he needs to wait for his boarding group
        >next random moron walks up to gate
        >same exact shit, does not understand why gate beeps at him and does not let him pass
        >finally after a few more morons all get turned away people start getting the hint
        >now my turn to push through and board since I'm group 1
