There are hundreds of cool things in Rome but the overwhelming majority of people only talk about this fountain, the colosseum, and the Vatican, but ESPECIALLY this frickin fountain. why? why does rome begin and end here for most people? it actually makes me mad

I spent about two minutes there. Too crowded, lots of melanin-enriched gentlemen. I really liked the baths of Caracalla, the Domus Aurea and Trajan's market

I mean, it's a pretty nice fountain, I wouldn't mind if they put it in front of my house.

It's a cool fountain that's easy to walk to and doesn't require a time commitment, making it easy to fit into a day when you're doing other things. Plus, you can head to where those people on the left are standing to have more space. It may not be the greatest thing in Rome, but it's super easy to visit so there's really no reason not to.

The average airhead is probably only in Rome for a day or two on a cruise or tour group. They have limited time, and the fountain is famous, cool, and easy to fit into their itinerary. Every single person who visits Rome can easily make time for the fountain, which is why everyone mentions it.

There's a legend that people who throw a coin over their shoulder into the fountain will find love, which was popularized by a novel and a movie:

    >However, it emerged that tourism is mainly concentrated in the historic center of Rome, (86.4 of arrivals) with visitors heading to cultural sites. This concentration not only causes congestion and inconvenience but also wastes capital resources that could be exploited in the external areas, which are equally attractive.

    >In particular, 86.4% of visitors to cultural institutions in Rome are concentrated in a narrow area between the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Vatican area, which represents only 0.3% of the municipal territory, 9.6% of the central area, and 18.9% of the First Municipality.

Because the other spots are not central and are not promoted. It's the same with any city.
