I don't know how TV works in other countries nowdays, but in Russia "State TV" does not mean that the content is produced by the state, it means that several commercial channels are broadcasted over the whole country for free.
Some of those channels have political talk-shows with "experts" discussing all kinds of shit at tabloid-level daily, and I'll be surprised if US doesn't have similar shows.
