Don't follow any of the Forest prostitutes into the wood. It's cheaper but not worth it

Friend and I wandered into the jungle at Angkor Wat many years ago. We just walked off the trail and into the woods. Stumbled upon a ruined small stone building, smoked a bunch of weed and followed some section of wall or building half engulfed by the jungle back to the tourist area.
10/10 can’t recommend because probably dangerous in hindsight

The majority of the archeological park has been cleared, so unless you're going into the countryside or just random walking into the jungle - you'll be fine.
Stay away from the street food though.

      >Stay away from the street food
why? that's literally all i had besides the hotel breakfast. it was pretty good. the only thing was we had to be careful not to fall into an uncovered manhole on badly lit streets while walking back from dinner.

Take the train from PP to Battambang, then travel to SR from there. The train ride is long, but beautiful. Bring snacks and drinks with you.

I did this trip in reverse about 20 years ago and it was pure fricking hell. The total morons driving the boat from SR were fricking clueless and had no concept of the channels in the river and kept running aground. What made that extra fun was that whenever we did, we'd get surrounded by some of the dirtiest, most unfriendly, leering savages in SE Asia. Once we got to Battambang, that city was pleasant enough, but the train ride was another torturous journey. Extraordinarly filthy, packed train cars, and the frickos driving it stopped numerous times along the way, in the middle of nowhere, just to jump off and have a howling drinking party with friends in the area, totally oblivious to the people suffering on the train. Ended up being about a 16 hour trip. Maybe it's better now, but considering the low-IQ savages in Cambodia, I highly doubt it.

Have a credit card without any money on it. Last time I was there it had gone to shit and accommodation often demanded to keep passports and credit cards as room surety instead of a cash deposit.

Also there are no land mines. Millions of moron engish have already cleared the way for you. There's nowhere you could possibly step that hasn't already been stepped on, astonishingly overtouristed.
