>what's your job? how were you able to progress and get paid 4x your previous salaries?
$60k in 2016 -> $250k in 2022.
job hopping every 2 years while being very TC minded.
software engineering for good companies pays this much. I'm not even labelled "senior" eng
I have a top 10 university degree fwiw, so my path might not be the most replicable. many people ask what I do, but it's not something with a quick startup. it's also shit for your social life and mental health, unless you're highly resilient and socially proactive.
>what do you miss about it?
It's an exciting city with plenty of things to do/see given Hong Kongs limited spatial size
There are still many places I want to visit having only discovered them after I returned home from my holiday there >what do you love?
The night had a n atmosphere to it. I could talk about the cliche cyberpunk stuff but there is just something about east asian cities >what do you hate?
desu, the city is awesome but the people can be a let down. Also my ex was from there so there is a personal element to me having a bit of a dislike. I got the know the ins and outs of hong kong culture, mentality etc. She was a bit of a stereotypical "gong mui". Greedy, materialistic, condescending etc. Fucking pissed me off to no end.
Having said that, there is a particular place on Lantau Island that I found on google earth. It seems to be like an abandoned village on the east side. There is a bushwalking trail to get there which also goes past an old army fort looking thing.
If I ever return there, I will definatly go and check it out
victor harbor hong kong
have you never heard of reverse image searching? very useful, took me all of five seconds to find
Gary, Indiana
Not really sighsee related, but that’s Hong Kong.
I sort of miss living in Hong Kong. Tempting to move back now that I'm paid 4x as much
what's your job? how were you able to progress and get paid 4x your previous salaries?
In addition to my butthole I realized I can sell my mouth and each hand as well, it quadrupled my earning potential

I miss it too although I have a love/hate relationship with that city

I certainly had grown to pick up some annoyances with it by the time I left, such as zero opportunities for a longer road trip in the country.
I wish there were more cities like it, with slight modifications on each, but it seems there is only one Hong Kong

Thermopolis, WY
Ching Chong City
as much as I want to say chink cities are bad, they are at least 2 times better than any American shithole.
Brisbane, Australia
It's Hong Kong but yeah with the skyline, water and wheel it looks like Brisbane
Same shitty weather too
I never went from 2008-2019 because I was like "whats the point even visiting post-handover HK". if only I knew...
gotham city
