Not really, both Russia and Iran are great countries to visit if you can keep your politics for yourself and instead just listen.
I'd refrain from domestic air travel in either country, but trains are a much better way to see the country.

Been to Iran but that was about five years ago. Went to Myanmar just a few weeks and felt safer than in the US, which apparently has it listed as level 4 do not travel

Only level 4 areas I've been to are Tamaulipas, Mexico and Baalbek, Lebanon (a Hezbollah stronghold and 7 miles from the Syrian border)
At the Temple of Bacchus could hear gunshots in the distance but a kind local merchant assured me it was nothing more than a wedding celebration. All in all rural Tamaulipas has the much sketchier vibe

Honorable mentions are Transnistria and Odessa for Victory Day 2018. It was a completely chill experience although I was temporarily detained by the Ukrainian border guard when they found a ribbon of St. George on my person kek

DPRK is listed as level 4 and it's pretty much the safest place I have ever been to.

It's not that hard to go there, at least between the 2000s and 2019.

Yes, it's easy to get in. You just need to sign up for a guided tour. Americans are banned now because of Trump's order but eurogays can still go.

Not surprising, the entire tour is designed to advertise the country to foreigners, so as long as you don't break any laws, they will pamper and protect you to the extent of executing anybody who tries to rob you.

Tijuana Mexico is fricking insane. We were there for 4 hours and I saw enough crazy shit to last a lifetime. They've been in the top 5 for murders every year for the past 20 years.
