This sounds crazy, but I save every ticket I obtain in my travels. >boarding passes >train tickets >museum tickets >bus tickets >etc.
Even crazier is that I also save the digital tickets. They're either in my email inbox, or I have the PDFs saved on my computer.
Slightly less crazy are metro cards. At least they can be used again if you plan on revisiting a place (they usually have long expiry dates, if any).
