That works out to $77.20 per woman, which is very expensive by Filipino standards.

It's impossible to get scammed if you have some brain cells left from your mtf transition.
The easiest way to get scammed is when you buy something for more than what's worth. In that case, you must opt for not buying anything or learn how to haggle. This only happens in developing countries so you can also opt to not visit them

      Anonymous

In some cases people in developing countries overcharge you for goods and services as a tourist. But it's still less than what you pay at home for the same thing about, so you're happy and so are they.

They're fucking dirt poor selling souvenirs. Don't be so cheap, they have families to feed. Then again don't pay an exorbitant amount like 700 peso for a keychain.

One time I got extorted at a SEA brothel after receiving services. After paying an insignificant sum in cash to the girl I coomed in, the girl left quickly and a couple goons came into the room looking mean. I tried to leave but they had a heavy blocking the door who shoved me back. Then their "boss" leader came in, sent the goons out, and had a one on one talk with me saying I need to buy a very expensive (like a thousand dollars) VIP membership to their 'club' for using their services. The thing is, they said they would accept payment in Visa, so I feigned my displeasure and happily went through with the transaction. Then all the goons suddenly became friendly and deferential to me after the bossman confirmed the payment thru their point of sale terminal. They started calling me Sir and the Heavy came up and apologized to me for shoving me during the "misunderstanding" and offered me a cold beer. They gave me a cheap plastic "VIP card" and asked me if I wanted another girl. I told them I wanted to leave cause it was quite late, so one of the lower level goons called a taxi for me and personally escorted me to the taxi, and gave me the equivalent of a $20 bill out of his own wallet so I could get back to my place and pay the cabby. I guess they all thought that they just landed a big payday...

The cab ride only cost a few bucks, and when I got back to my hotel, I called my CC merchant Bank and told them I had recent charges as a result of extortion and kidnapping against my will, and they suspended the card and cancelled the charges. Technically I made some money.

I slummed it in Dubai and visited some african hookers in a certain part of town. They bring you up off the street into these extremely sketchy little rooms with beds that have curtains on them.
Sex was with a condom and cost $10. It was awful, she just laid there and looked at her phone.

This is the brothels for indians area of the city, btw.

I did my business, but I checked my wallet when I was leaving and noticed that several 100 AED notes had disappeared from it. They are each worth around 30 US dollars. I didn't misplace them, there was only 1 note where there should have been 5.

The crazy part was that my pants and my wallet in the pocket were next to my head almost the entire time. I knew there was something going on and was being careful, but they still snuck money out of my wallet anyways.

I was so impressed and confused by how they pulled it off that I went back again the next night, intending to discover how the scam works. Same brothel, similar room, except this time I wasn't out to nut, I was out to find out how they were getting into my wallet. I put some notes in it as bait and this time when I was 'fucking' the ugly african I chose, I carefully watched out of the corner of my eye how it went down.

    >she pushes my pants towards the wall, and the edge of the bed, with the pocket that is bulging with my wallet against the wall
    >A FUCKING BLACK HAND REACHES UP FROM UNDER THE BED AND BEGINS RIFLING THROUGH THE POCKET
    >there was a guy under the bed I was fucking an african woman on, who goes through the pockets of the idiots who fall for their cheap sex scam.
    >I burst out laughing and jump off the bed
    >"OK OK, give it back. I let you keep some don't worry. NO PROBLEM."
    >I'm buck ass naked telling an african under my bed to give me back my money
    >moment hesitation
    >black hand reaches out from under the bed with my money
    >I take all but one 100 AED note. I leave him with 30 dollars to avoid things getting physical.
    >get dressed and leave.

Few good ones for this which I hope stands as a lesson to not be a shit cunt like me

First night in Manila I got jipped for a taxi from the airport. The airport staff were the ones who hailed the car for me and it was a decent looking white van (unlike those white taxi cars with shit printed all over them, avoid those). The guy took me to the wrong hotel and I didn't know, I get out and walk in, they say they don't have a reservation for me and no rooms left (I was only staying at this place one night before I started touring around) so fuck me, now what? I ask the concierge lady to get me a taxi.

It's one of those white taxis. This is where I learned to tell the fucker to run the meter or negotiate a price beforehand instead of just hopping in to one of those cars. Trikes work the same way. Long story short, I ended up paying double what it usually costs to go where I was going because the fucker didn't run the meter. I didn't think anything of it until I met with my guide and they told me I got totally ripped off.

I had a trike driver do this to me too. He took me to the trike "terminal" instead of where I was going and asked for gas money and the fare which was like 500 pesos. I knew he was ripping me off, but this guy, and I'm pretty tall and fit, this guy comes out of nowhere who is fucking massive and, however politely, asks for the payment. I just forked it out and fucking left to look for another ride.

Always negotiate price first, and if they're trying to over-charge you for some bullshit excuse just fuck off and find another ride because there are tons of other guys working the same job who won't rip you off. Some of them will finger-fuck you if you let them.

Will cont and samefag with other stories

      >Go to one and this hot woman is wearing black tube top, short shorts, and fishnets along with stilettos and fake eyelashes
      >She walks in a really sexy way
      >Want to buy her
      >Yes I said buy, because that's what it is, judge me
      >Some of them have upstairs parts which have, surprisingly, pretty clean rooms and showers that actually fucking work
      >Mamasan and a couple workers come over and sit with me and I ask them if I can buy that woman I mentioned before

Side note here, the first time you go in to a bar they're going to hustle you. Don't spend too much because you'll end up fucking broke at the end of the night, but do spend enough to keep mamasan happy

      >End up buying a round for the waiting staff/mamsan and girl comes right over
      >Would post naked picture of girl but this is not NSFW board
      >End up spending like 4000 pesos on drinks for all four of them and myself, which is a lot here
      >Spend another 4000 pesos to rent the room and have sex with the woman
      >Mamasan says I can stay there for the night if I want but I wanted to get the fuck out of there and back to my girlfriend's place
      >Yes, my Filipina girlfriend lets me fuck sex workers
      >Leave and get trike again, negotiate price first, pay on arrival
      >Explain to my girlfriend what happened, she's pissed at me because I spent way too much

Long and short of it is you will get hustled in these walking street gogo bars and shit. It's almost a skill to get what you want in there without spending a fuck ton because stupid retarded white guys go in there with too much money and they all know how to drain it. cont

I lived in the Philippines for 2 years, had zero issues despite being a total degenerate. 1 year manila/makati/quezon city. 6 months AC, 6 months cebu city.

The trick is to be a nice and polite degenerate, treat everybody with respect even if they don't deserve it. Even street people. Even screeching shabu psycho lunatics waving baboo sticks around like swords in the street.

Handshake and smile, 'How are you friend?' goes 100 miles per the 1 mile your rude dumbfuckery gets you.

Yeah this is pretty accurate. However, I always had respect wherever I went. Bouncers escorted me around even if I didn't pay. I always said hello/goodbye/how are you to everyone that was even mildly associated with me.

I had to meet my girlfriend's family and some of them were hard bastards. Her brother got shot in a robbery. All of them were covered in tattoos and here's this Amish boy coming in trying to court their sister but I still came out without a scratch. We drank a fuck ton of Red Horse and had a blast. Even her father likes me which took about one day to achieve and this girl is fucking sexy. She used to do beauty contests, doesn't drink/smoke/do drugs, I'd say I'm pretty okay with that.

I can be an asshole in my head and think what I think but I know respect goes a long way no matter where you go to keep you above ground.

Ran out of Emperador so girlfriend is going to get more of it. Anyways, one more for the thread:

        >2nd-3rd night in Manila
        >Walking around alone at night
        >Want a ciggy so I spark it up
        >15 seconds later cop rolls up on a scooter
        >Demands my ID, says I can't smoke there
        >Apologize and give him 1000 pesos to fuck off
        >Tells me to finish my smoke and not do it again
        >Drives me back to my hotel after showing me where the "designated smoking area" is which is literally just a parking lot for bike drivers to put their bike while they do whatever the fuck it is they do while they're not working

Everything is literally money here. Have it? You'll be fine, but once they know you do, they are pretty adept at draining it out of you. However, if you're assertive about it they'll back off. I also had a group of like 4-5 Filipino guys who were obviously trouble hustle me for 400 pesos for walking through their "area" at night. I told them to fuck off (which in hindsight, I probably wouldn't have done and only did so because I was tipsy and didn't give a fuck because I was mad) and they left me alone for some reason.

        >At club
        >fucked different girl previous night
        >other girl i fucked is at club too with her friends
        >one of her friends steals my phone with my back-home SIM card
        >fucked me in to the dirt for a while, had to get Skype and shit to deal with at-home things

This is a big one. Don't even take your at-home SIM card out especially if you're drinking. Leave it in your safe because if you lose it, despite a new phone/SIM here is cheap as fuck, losing that will cause you some problems and it's a pain in the ass to solve.

I've seen it. I was offered children in phnom penh several times while walking home, and noticed motorcycle 'cops' nearby around the corner when I walked away.

Actually now that I think I've almost had this exact thing happen to me. There were the occasions where somebody put a child on the tuktuk and the tuktuk driver said it was his and he was just going to drop the kid off along the way to my location. I put my foot down and said no, and they acted butthurt so I stepped out and found another ride.

Good instincts there. I wouldn't trust anything beyond what I am asking for in SEA. If it seems like a scam, it definitely is. Ask for something and get it, and that's it. Any frill or something thrown in you will get fucked over.

I was 2 blocks down from the popular tourist area in PP
          >methhead tuk tuk offers me drugs
          >offers to show me his dick
          >I still get in with him
          >pretty much all downhill from there
I saw one of the fake cops wandering around the tourist district after but didn't have the power to confront him
This was a multi-layered scenario and the tuktuk driver also had a guilty conscience and gave me fair warnings there was a possible scam at play

Cambodia is a shithole because now they actually turned into some sort of moralgayry scamming, this is due to the fake charities and ngo's imposing morals onto their culture

I met a french guy in the busiest tourist street there downtown who got bearhugged and everything included his passport lifted off him

Human beings are fucking retarded. I don't mean you, I mean this is the type of shit you get when travelling in places like that. You always have to watch your ass. Maybe you can't blame them because they're broke and starving but holy shit man there is a time and a place for complete degeneracy and actually possessing morality. I feel lucky I haven't lost any of my bank cards or passport yet. The worst I had was a phone snagged.

Have to add here that there was a guy from my country who was wandering around the red light district looking for someone to help him get a ride to the embassy because he got drugged and robbed in some slumhole.

I gave him the money so he could get there and I never heard from him again. I hope he ended up alright.

There is so much to see. Pic related. Don't end up blowing all your money on some sex district because it's honestly not worth it and about how 90% of expats spend their time here, get cleansed and end up jacking it in San Diego.

Buddy the situation you are describing is so far outside the normal expat experience that calling you an outlier is an understatement.

I'm genuinely happy for you if you found a comfortable lifestyle in that sort of place, but my own experiences in the country cause nothing but massive alarm bells to go off in my head when reading about it.

Maybe you've just got a whole different vibe and energy going on that allows you to insinuate yourself into such a situation smoothly.

Reading about it like hearing a joke and waiting for a punchline though, because I've never heard a version of this story that had a happy or normal ending.

Ending hasn't happened yet. Yes, this is true, and I do not give a fuck who believes it or not. I don't know if it is because I am young and white but nothing I have said was LARPed. This is my life and what I chose to do and damn the rest.

I am almost 30 and am not married and have no kids. Many such cases. I don't intend on wasting the next ten years of my life doing absolutely nothing, eating, working, drinking, and then dying.

Here's the simple way to describe it: I moved here, met a girl as fucked up as me, decided I wanted to stay with her, respected her family and they let me move in with her. Now that she's pregnant I am pretty much devoted now. I am really good at adapting to situations, can make money doing semi-shady shit here and it is how it is.

Yeah, maybe I'll end up dead or fucked up in a ditch but I really don't give a shit. The wife and life I left back at home was such a miserable, pointless experience that naturally this was going to happen. That's just how I look at it.

You can view it however you please and I am not going to judge you over it. I will say, this is the best decision I have ever made in my short life and I do not regret it at all.

I work at a casino and get paid under the table. I make about 250,000 peso a month and it's enough to keep us comfortable. My girlfriend works in exporting electronics for some Koreans and makes about the same.

I was basically hooked up by my sister's brothers/cousins as they run a ton of businesses here. I have a non-meme degree that makes me competent and high experience for someone so young so I could really do whatever I want.

Some of the side shit we do is shady but I'm not even going to talk about any of that. You can probably assume what it is. My legit job is at a casino but it's all under the table because I'm waiting on a work Visa to train CPAs.

That sounds worrying, but I find the less I give a shit the better and the less I know about it the better. I don't get involved in other people's bullshit and have not had an issue. I do what I have to do and that's it.

I got hit with the "temple is closed, this official driver will take you somewhere cool" scam in Thailand but the driver actually took us to a nicer, quieter temple.
I realised it was a scam on the way and offered him half the agreed fare, but he refused because he wanted to take me to one of those Arab fashion stores and get his full scam money. I just wandered around the temple for a bit then left out of a different entrance without paying him anything, so I guess I was reverse scammed.

My advice is to run as soon as you sense tension or problems in your relationship (or more serious ones with her family/your employer). It will be too late by the time you think it's serious. The people you work with will be very good at reassuring you that everything is okay, you're important, loved like family, etc... until suddenly it's over, and if you even have time to think when it happens, you'll be completely unprepared for that moment. Assume that everything is going to fall apart. Start putting money in crypto or physically stashed somewhere. You're situation will not last forever and most likely when it ends, it will end badly. You'll need a head start to get to the airport and out before they can stop you. Consider laying down groundwork of plausible excuses for needing to go to the city - start getting regular dental work done, treatment for a chronic pain, etc. What you do isn't my line of work but I know a lot about it and the people you work for, and you can't be paranoid enough.

Solid advice, anon and taken seriously. This is a high-risk lifestyle for sure and I know it won't last forever. The solidifying factor I have now is that I'm going to have a baby with this girl and they have no other sibling because my would-be brother-in-law got murdered in a robbery.

My escape plan is to say I have to deal with banking shit (BDO, I have them convinced that's who I worked for prior in my home country) and just head straight to the bus terminal. I don't have social media and my cellphone number can easily be swapped because SIM cards are cheap here. My girlfriend doesn't even know my West number or any idea where I am actually from.

I also use a fake accent (Russian/Balkan) so they don't even know what country I am actually from. I told them I was from rural Germany and worked at a bank. Only thing I didn't really bullshit about was my degree/specialization and that was so I could get the job I have.

I have good street smarts and could survive on my own honestly moving place to place like a nomad. I get exactly what you're saying though, but I have covered my ass and have a plan. I will sense when shit is about to get bad.

Funny yesterday I shot a hen that wandered in to our backyard with some fucking gun contraption that was loaded with water and shot marbles. The brother came over, handed me this makeshift firearm and offered to let me shoot it. I nailed it right in the neck with this hand cannon and my girlfriend's dad gave me a hug. Not sure what that means, but it was reassuring. Picture somewhat related but way more makeshift than that one in pic.

I did that a lot with my friend. We would create a slavic language based on famous russian names, like:
        >Scammer: Hello sir! Beautiful buy this
        >Me: Sharapovskaya gorbachovsky nanamouskouryvsky?
        >Scammer: What? You russia?
        >Me: Vladimirosky putinom, baryshnikov!

Still have no idea who did it, but suspect this group of Middle Eastern foreign students did it because they ended up getting kicked out of school and deported for drugging girls and raping them.

Funny in retrospect, but that shit could have gotten you on ice for sure. Good thing you had a friend with you. Human trafficking is a major industry and even in Japan it's common.

I fucked a sex worker in Thailand and she spoke pretty good English. Her brother just disappeared one night after he went out and they never heard from him again. The "police" told her he was kidnapped by sex traffickers and was God knows where according to their investigation.

At least you can laugh about it in retrospect because that's the kind of thing that keeps you alive ironically; being completely careless. It's the ones who care even slightly who end up really fucked over. Funny how that works.

You know that's probably really true. i was with two friends and we all thought "we grew up in London, we've seen some shit, we know our shit, let's give this area we've heard lots of dodgy things about a go, what's the worst that could happen?" And I think that did indeed ironically play to our advantage. Probably a terrible example of positive re-inforcement

Human beans are fucking retarded man. We have this complex that makes the negative positive. I'm listening to roosters screech right now because the sun is coming up and it just reminds me that there is no way that we are the only life form in the universe.

There has to be something smarter than this shit. We are fucking dumb, the meat we eat is dumber, and I can't fucking take it anymore. Holy shit we are stupid and the only cure, for me so far, has been to drink until I am just as dumb as everyone around me.

Not saying I have some sort of superior intellect, but some of the shit I've seen in the 3rd world is next-level retarded. At the same time I have grown to appreciate the drive some of these fuckers have just to survive.

It's fucking insane. I think we live in the most demented dimension of reality possible. survivorship bias : the post

The only reason why you fuckers got away with it is because you were lucky. There is a reason why the crime, the sleaze and the shadiness is very compartmentalized (red light districts some nightlife) and very visible (tattoo wearing people, oddly aggressive compared to the populace) in East Asia (China/Taiwan, Korea, Japan...). For all their decreasing influence they still litterally get away with murder. Having the kind of naive behavior we have back home ("yeah well I grew up with worse people") really isnt' the way to go.

This isn't London or Paris or other western megacities where petty criminals and law abiding citizens basically live their lives together in shitty neighborhoods, these guys have clear cut fucking territories where their word is law and your only saving grace is that messing with innocent foreigners is too much of a liability to deal with (but they will do so if they think they can get away with it). So while kabukicho may seem relatively safe so long as you're not completely retarded, it is a hostile environment, and if you are retarded it's only a question of time until you get irrevocably fucked.

This is especially true of long term expats who think they can dip but a toe in the game. From selling a few buds of weed for 40 bucks a gram to pay the bills, to murdering snitches.

I one time got drugged by some other tourists, Russians, in SEA. Luckily I had a lot of friends with me but fuck me, that night was going great and then just a blur.

I met some "Freemasons" (whatever the fuck they do) and I, to my detriment, accepted some cigars from them. I don't remember a god damned thing about that day and luckily left all my shit in the hotel room. All I remember is we had about 8 girls in some hotel room and someone recorded me fucking this Thai girl to pieces. She bled. It was exhilarating. I also remember the girl sitting in the corner of the room as I drank with these guys and just looking defeated. I also remember kissing her forehead before we went back to our hotel.

The same day I had rocks thrown at me by some street kids and one got me pretty good. Shit was great. I woke up back at my hotel by a knock at the door by these "Freemason" guys checking on me. We just kept drinking.

Well you've defeated yourself already with

      >I'd never make it outside my rural shithole.

You'd be surprised with how well you can survive if you take a chance and throw yourself in to the shit. It's fucking worth it too because you will never have a better time.

The repercussion is I am now addicted to the darkest and most depraved music ever. The benefit is I get to have sex with one of the hottest girls I've ever seen every day, whenever I want, and the bitch cooks and cleans too. I don't have to do shit. I eat, drink, sleep, and every morning I wake up to some pussy.

Pretty good fucking life if you take the chance and go for it.

$1k, I was super drunk and ended up hiring a taxi for all night in the US. He drove me from club to club waiting outside, drove me to a massage parlor, maybe ~6 hours or so. Only time I've ever been to a massage parlor where they line the girls up and you choose. Gave him $1k at the end of it.

you scammed yourself bro wtf also you shouldve just rented a limo for the night prob would've been like $250 cheaper kek

lol'd. Like the other anon said you could have hired a limo driver and booked the time in advance if you really wanted that type of experience. Hindsight is always 20/20. Next time you go on a binge just rent a limo driver (it's not as expensive as you think) and tour the fuck around. Maybe bring some buddies with you next time so you don't get fucked around.

I let a kid hustle me for $20 in Thailand because I was drunk and all my friends wanted to tuck in early for the night.

Knew he'd destroy me but thought the experience would be fun.

Never got scammed really, except for 2 EUR at the Athens Airport, the bus conductor charged me a higher ticket price than usual. I have been traveling with my brother to greece and italy, there are many street hustlers, but it is easy to avoid them.

I heard that scammers often target young girls or groups with young girls, is it true??
Just avoid black people, especially those who are approaching you.

I'd dare say all of the scammers I saw last week in Italy targeted women.

I think it's because women try to be "open minded" and not racist, so they see a crowd of dirty looking African dudes with shitloads of garbage in their hands approaching every single person who walks by and assume there must be zero bad intentions--clearly those guys really are giving you a free gift and you really are their white African sister. Meanwhile most men know that an African guy randomly approaching you is generally something you want to avoid unless you already know and trust them.

Been to about 60 countries, only time I got scammed was in Thailand. I’m not a coomer but went out for drinks with a middle aged Croatian guy who was. I ordered some drinks, got pretty drunk. Cashier told me my bill was about $50, found out they charged me $1500 the next day.

Wasn’t a big deal, the bank refunded me the full amount

Soem white looking guy came up to me in Makati and said he lost his buds and wanted a wingman. I joined him for drinks at a gogo and he went really hard. Shot after Shot and ladydrinks too.

He went to the pisser and never came back. The bar bouncer insisted I pay his bill. $200 down the drain.

    Lesson learned?

I’m embarrassed to admit that I fell for a variation on the age-old champagne scam in a bar in Geneva. Offered to buy the very friendly, chatty Bulgarian hostess a drink (I can’t speak French worth a damn and was relieved to have someone to speak to in Russian, in which she was fluent), she poured herself a hilariously expensive glass of champagne, climbed over the bar and tried to get me to pay her for sex.

Ended with her yelling at me, “I hate people like you,” meaning ‘men who love their wives.’ I really didn’t think it was that kind of bar, and had I known that it was I would have at least chatted up her more attractive colleague.

I don’t remember exactly how much money her drink was, but it was a startling amount, even by Swiss bar standards—perhaps $50?

1 You don't refuse an escort, are you gay?
2 It's not a scam, it's just an expensive bar.

I went to a bar in a Hyatt Hotel once (the infamous Lost in Translation bar, don't start me on this, a bitch dragged me there) and it was like $80 for three cocktails.

That's not an unreasonable price for Tokyo. Small cocktail bars will charge 2000 yen for a drink, so 33% more for a memed hotel sounds right.

        >1 You don't refuse an escort, are you gay?
Not gay, just happily married. Also know from pre-marriage experience that I dislike paid sex, and she wasn’t very attractive.
        >2 It's not a scam, it's just an expensive bar.
The ~50 was just for her glass of cheap not-really-champagne, not for the whole tab. An expensive Swiss bar charges 20something for a cocktail, not 50 for a glass of Prosecco.

Young women are so naive that they won't realize they were scammed until they are telling the story years later and somebody with an actual brain points out the scam. The entire trinket industry survives off idiot women getting conned into buying overpriced junk.

    Zero because I'm not retarded.

If a stranger comes up to you, just keep walking. They prey on people who conform to social standards of politeness.

Then those same polite people wonder where their wallet is 10 minutes later and the scammer is nowhere to be seen.

Then one girl got angry as well and lifted a 5 or 20 euro note from my pocket (it was green or blue, couldnt really see it). Maybe it was just opportunistic robbery idk.

There was an ATM scam going on for a while in the west where they inserted some sort of device into the machine that physically blocked the money from coming out, but when they removed it it'd suddenly start spitting out notes. I'm guessing people in China were pulling similar scams

For once got travel insurance on my flight from the airline for a seemingly dicey trip I planned. Flights ended up canceled, luckily I had the insurance, oh wait, it wasn't even legit despite being offered by the airline. turns out it was a sponsored 3rd party or something. ended up disputing on my credit card but fuck me so out $300. some airlines are just flat out scams, same with car rentals.

Back in 2015 I was accepted into an exchange program at Tsinghua University in Beijing. They send out a physical signed letter that was required on arrival into China and when first attending the campus.

I was spending a few weeks in Thailand before going to China. Stayed in a hotel in Bangkok and then took a bus to Pattaya (not to coom, but that place is great for people watching). Realise I left the acceptance letter along with $1000AUD in an envelope in my room in Bangkok. Take the next bus back to Bangkok, ask at the front desk if they found a envelope. The cleaner said they didn't find it; lying cunt.

Book the same room, and sneakily wheel the garbage inside where I sifted through it for a couple of hours. Found my envelope scrunched up with the acceptance letter inside. Obviously the money was gone. Arrived in China a few weeks later. Letter looked completely fucked up; stains etc. For a moment it looked like they were gonna refuse because they thought it was fake. All fine in the end.

The Nike store in Prague charged me $900 for 2 pairs of shoes, a jacket and a small cross body bag for my girlfriend. It should have been less than $400. We disputed the charge with my credit card company and got back more than they owed us. Always use credit. Had it been debit, we would have been out the dough

Im from outside NYC, and as a teenager I would travel in solo. Went to times square and they had guys running the “collecting for [nameless] charity” that will “help homeless”. One guy dragged me in and started convincing me that I should give. Took him 5 minutes to get $10 out of me.

He said thank you, but then asked if I would give a $20, he’d give back the $10. He just wanted a $20 in the box to convince others to give like I did. That sounded reasonable so I took my $10 and handed him a $20.

Half way crossing the street my heart dropped when I understood that it took him only one sentence to scam me out of $20, instead of $10.

When I got to the next corner a guy in the same “uniform” for the same “charity” started working on me. I said I just gave to the other guy, and he said “that’s got nothing to do with me, I care about my box”. Worst part of the story is it made me jaded and I never give money to anyone, even if they need it. Still getting over that.

Never. Unless I'm not aware of it.

Once some big guy came up tom me and pointed to his hear and showed me "no sound" picture or some shit. And I'm like what is this? You want money out of apparent tourist? I told him "I'm an asshole, get the fuck away from me" I was just watching Vagrant Holiday so I was feeling it and I was pissed, waiting for a taxi. He again showed me the picture "no sound" or whatever and I said something like "No no, fuck off". And he did the same thing at locals and they also have him $0.

I don't know if this was a scam or not, certainly weird. I was expecting him to stab me tbh. I was really rude.

Around $200. By another gringo too, I was staying at a sorta hostel sorta hotel in Mexico that had tiny individual rooms and a large common area. I met this older (50s) guy who seemed cool and was there with some girlfriend I think and we talked for a while and later he approached me kinda desperate saying he wanted to stay longer but his debit card was declined and it was just some issue with the bank flagging the hotel charge as suHispanicious, that he had 10k saved up for the trip in the bank and that he would pay me back the the next day once he got it sorted out but just needed to give the hotel a deposit so they wouldn't kick him out. I fell for it since I only expected that sort of shit from the locals. The next morning they were long gone. I guess he actually stiffed the hotel out of some money too. They bought me food though at a restaurant across the street so I guess I was only out like $190. Definitely an eye opener.
