What's the truth about CDMX?

I've heard everything from Mad Max to cosmopolitan paradise. Is it safe? what are the women like? Food? Museums?

    >Museums?

Anthropology museum is top notch, the other ones not so great.

Over all it's a nice city, as close to an American city as you will find in Latin America.

For me it's the best city in the Americas. The furthest north in the continent you can go and get a city with soul anyway

Most of the city's museums are concentrated in the historic zone (Centro Historico), Chapultepec Park, Ciudad Universitaria and Coyoacan - San Angel, in any street and squares of the historic zone are the museums, in Chapultepec there are in its two main sections (I and II section) and in Coyoacan from Plaza de la Conchita to San Angel, along Francisco Sosa avenue.
I highlight the National Museum of Interventions, the El Carmen Museum, the Cuicuilco Site Museum, the Diego Rivera-Anahuacalli Museum and the San Carlos National Museum.
Regarding security, I recommend you to be careful in the neighborhoods of Zona Rosa, Alameda Central, Anahuac, much more careful in the center of Xochimilco and avoid Tacubaya.
The city is divided into 16 municipalities, the safest are in the western part of the city, especially Benito Juarez and Cuajimalpa, while the most insecure part is the eastern part, especially Tlahuac, Iztapalapa and Iztacalco.

      >what are the women like
      Easy, just be white

      >I've heard everything from Mad Max to cosmopolitan paradise. Is it safe?
Closer to the latter than the former IMO. It’s much safer than it used to be, and has always been at least somewhat safer than its reputation—horror stories about kidnapper taxi drivers, etc., are inspired by truth but very rare (and kidnapping for cash is much more commonly a threat to rich locals than to tourists). Risks of pickpockets on the metro are moderately high, risks of muggings in dark alleys maybe a little higher than where you live, but both are easily avoided with common sense. The nicer parts of the city are well-lit, carefully policed, and as safe as any other large metropolis.
      >what are the women like?
There are roughly ten million of them, so I think you’ll see a wide range, from squat Indian grandmas from Chiapas to posh women nearly indistinguishable from ones you might meet in NYC or London or Paris. The Roma and Condesa neighborhoods are good places to meet upper-class locals. But they aren’t going to be easy to impress, because half of them are richer than you are.
      >Food?
It’s very good, particularly if you like Mexican. Find an expensive modern Mexican place that does wine pairings with Mexican wine if you can—I didn’t even know there were vineyards in MX but the good stuff is really good.
      >Museums?
I liked the Templo Mayor archaeological site/museum—it’s really fascinating to see Spanish colonial history literally built on top of (and often from the same bricks as) the Aztec capital.

There’s some interest to be had in the Frida Kahlo and Leon Trotsky house museums, not far from one another in the Coyoacán district, which is also just nice for wandering around in.

Thank you. Which district should I get a hotel in?

Polanco if you can afford it.

Polanco is boring. I would go with Condesa or Roma Norte. If you prefer more of a small-town feel go with Coyoacan.

Coyoacan also has some worhtwhile museums. Most poeple go tot he blue house but they neglect the other house, which is also interesting. There's alsot the mummies around there and the intervention museum and the Trotsky house.

You should take the short trip out of the city to see the pyramids and the museum there.

It's hard to find public markets these days in Latin America but CDMX still has a bunch of them. I like Mercado Medellín, Mercado Jamaíca (has lots of flowers) and the one in Coyoacan.

Lots of pickpockets in the subway (or buses) btw. That's the main thing you have to watch out for.

Boring because you can't afford it? You act like you can't get around on a fricking uber lol.

Latin American cities tend to have awful traffic. There's value in being in a neighborhood that's walkable/close to what you like.

Why are you butthurt just because nobody likes Polanco? If you actually had money you would be living it up in NYC and not a third world country, so don't act like a gay.

It's not ok to be poor and call things "boring" because you can't afford the fun things in a neighborhood. Let's grow up now. Call it ritzy, call it out of your league, calling it boring is outing yourself as someone who just can't afford it.

Not that guy, but I agree with him that Roma Norte and Condesa are more interesting/fun than Polanco, particularly when it comes to nightlife. Nightlife in Polanco is mostly huge dance clubs, which bore me. Better diversity of bars and smaller nightspots elsewhere in CDMX. Polanco is great for housing and high-end retail, but Condesa’s much cooler.

Colombia is like this too, except the girls have pretty faces. They specialize in rail-thin, skinny teens with fat asses.

Too bad the place is a dangerous, scammy shithole.

If you've never been and all you've seen is the disgusting prostitutes that appear on places linked on ISG, then yeah, you would think that.

The only women desperate enough to resort to a direct exchange of money for sex in a socially conservative country like Colombia are the very poor and the ones who were too ugly to land a Colombian with money.

Colombia and Medellin especially are renowned for their pretty girls. It's why millions of men visit every year, in spite of the fact that it's a dangerous place and half the people are out to scam you in one way or another.

        >can I expect to bring her back to my hotel after a conversation
No, it's not the Philippines. I generally succeed in getting a kiss on the first date in the US, but with Latinas they'll hold off until at least the second date.

You have to understand that they're taught to pay lip service to their conservative culture, even if the women are still easy. If they really like you, you might be able to frick the night of your second date. But the girls have standards. If you can't get laid in the US, you probably can't in Mexico either. Especially not with the language barrier. JBW bumps you up 1.5 points, the rest is up to you.

        Not him.

The advantage you have in mexico/latam is people are much less socially judgmental towards men with significantly younger girlfriends or men who are ugly/fat/hairy with hot attractive women.

            >men with significantly younger girlfriends or men who are ugly/fat/hairy with hot attractive women.
That's the power of dinero baby. We should be seeing the same happen in the US in 20 years as it degenerates into Brazil 2.0. We are witnessing the creation of a brown underclass and a white-ish upper class before our very eyes.

All that feminist bullshit will go out the door when young single women can no longer make ends meet by themselves. That's the advantage of extreme income inequality, assuming you end up on the right side of the tracks.
