...But there really isn't much going on in there. So if you are looking for activities and excitement, you'll probably be very disappointed. Also some Swedish (or Norwegian, I don't fricking know) frickers built a beach bar there are and are now playing loud music every night, right next to the cottages.

Thailand rooms in the $13-19 price range are absolutely superior to the equivalent Malaysian rooms. Bangkok's urban layout, with quiet sois for residential use, is also better than Kuala Lumpur's large blocks with omnipresent thru traffic and lots of windowless interior rooms. I've found Thailand to have superior street stalls as well...greater prevalence, lower prices and more selection than Malaysia. Malaysia has very few small owner-operated restaurants, my favorite kind of eatery; most budget places here in KL are large dining halls. It doesn't rain in the winter in Thailand, while it rains unpredictably in Malaysia.
