Turkey's economy is smaller but it is far more centralized. I would say Istanbul has a larger economy than every German city except maybe Berlin, or Frankfurt if you're counting all the banking.
>I would say Istanbul has a larger economy than every German city except maybe Berlin, or Frankfurt if you're counting all the banking.
Yet Istanbul is on the list and not Berlin or Frankfurt which is weird.
Maybe Arabs have some special kind of admiration for Istanbul, at least in my bubble I've never heard of anyone going there or willing to visit this city. If anything, it is associated with being extremely overcrowded (especially with refugees) and rather chaotic and ugly. Some people might like this 'oriental' feeling but it's rather few, at least here. Maybe Middle Easterners see it differently.
Dont they also have pretty good food?
dont know about the tempurature, but if its nice, that could be a big reason too.
1) Istanbul has probably more to offer than a midsized EU capital
2) its very popular for other thirdies who can't really afford Amsterdam or Paris to do a city trip. Women there also want to do weekenders in foreign cities like they do here but can't afford EU ones so Istanbul is the most popular.
Go through the Instagram of literally any girl from mena and there will be some recent photos from an Istanbul trip
>2) its very popular for other thirdies who can't really afford Amsterdam or Paris to do a city trip.
but how could Istanbul replace Paris for them, lmao? They could as well go to Cairo, Islamabad or wherever they're from. Istanbul is far more similar to your average thirdie capital than to Amsterdam or Paris

like what? shopping, shopping and...shopping? Especially nowadays, when you can order every single thing from every country online even in a thirdie state?
true, i sometimes think of moving to America and then I realize I couldn't live in a place without old architecture where I cannot touch a medieval brick
Also the number for Amsterdam is really absurd when you consider population and size. The city is very compact compared to some others on the list who were designed as capital cities for huge empires.
cause its an old place with prestige and a lot of things to see do and eat and is relitively safe and comfortable.
Its kind of self explanatory if you are not an absolute braindead.
why do so many people visit Istanbul, there is hardly anything to see there
shopping in turkey is cheap as frick and istanbul has a bunch of high end brand stores
>shopping in turkey is cheap as frick
isnt that all fake brands?
why would so many businessmen want to go there? Turkey is a small economy comparing to let's say Germany
why? it's a superpopular destination

Fairly common destination here
It appeals loads to people who like history, it's hot, Turkish food is nice, and it's a cool gimmick of being in Asia
>and it's a cool gimmick of being in Asia
I thought for Brits Asia = India
Business travelers are included in these numbers which makes a huge difference
Are you joking?
Because it is fake data. The city gets between 3 and 4 million visitors
>Are you joking?
No. They have literally 3-4 buildings worth attention and that's all, the rest of the city is a giant commieblock hive.
There are some nice spots in Turkey but it's not Istanbul for sure.

Why are you so upset about Istanbul being desirable to tourists... Is it because nobody dreams of visiting Poland or WHAT
Why do italy and greece get mogged by spain and france so hard?
Well that was on of the most moronic things I've ever read
Italy and Greece have other places to visit other than the capital, Spain is simply very cheap
yeah lol why are people visiting this 3000 year old city
stfu pooplyack moron
there's more to visit in istanbul than in all of poland though
I'm surprised by Budapest tbh
I'm sure that the vast majority of tourists are Europeans from elsewhere.
And why? Lots of vacation time, visa-free travel, and good transportation. If I was European I'd go visit all kinds of tourist shit all the time.
true, i sometimes think of moving to America and then I realize I couldn't live in a place without old architecture where I cannot touch a medieval brick
Idk. I would never give my money to the Europeans.
>22milion in Istanbul. KEK how many of them do you think are baldcels?
Lots of gays into turks
Like who?
lol, look at lonely Germany being surrounded by popular kids.
frick off, bomber Harris
You tell'em Marek!
Frick off, we're full

Because we don't have wars here
