Why would this be an issue? The hard case seems to be within carry-on dimensions and Delta let you bring a personal item like a backpack, right? These seem within those parameters.
It's all luck of the draw. Smile a bit, chat it up with the agents and you'll be fine. Don't draw too much attention to it. I regularly fly Frontier and Spirit who technically charge for it and have never had to pay extra for a carry-on.
I have an Osprey 30L that tightens up pretty good but it definitely fits under the seat if necessary. Getting away with is definitely possible but it's easier if you are boarding earlier rather than later.
imagine thinking airlines actually follow their own rules, you are right anon but every time I fly I have to be stuck behind some moron trying to shove a massive roll-on into the overhead while wearing a hiking rucksack. Personally if it has wheels it should go into the cargo hold but for some fucking reason everyone just needs to have a suitcase full of shit within arms reach for a 6 hour flight.
I work for Delta. If you have a connecting flight before CDG make sure your the first person to board in your boarding group. The overhead space fills up very quick these days and once that happens they start to check everyone's bag at the gate. If you are in comfort plus or sky priority group you don't have to worry. Main cabin 2 and economy basic is cutting it close. From what I hear though if you're arriving into CDG it's not that bad aside from a long wait. It's the flying out part that is a nightmare.

Im pushing the 40L to the limits. I think I'm going to try it anyway. People have had their baggage stuck at the airport for weeks and
>People have had their baggage stuck at the airport for weeks and
Heathrow shit was because of a huge fuck up in the airport itself.
As long as it fits in the "will it fit" check for carry on you should be fine if your ticket includes one carry on and one checked bag
cheers son

A personal item is something like a purse or a laptop bag. Not a backpack.
>will delta be cunts
no
wrong, i always bring my hefty backpack jammed with shit as a personal item and have never been questioned
This is bait, bullshit, or written by the decrepit fingers of the American Airlines CEO
A personal item just has to fit the required size dimensions. I’ve carried backpacks within that size limit as personal items.

Weight limit is 50lbs, just don't go over.
Nice, I have the same backpack. Packed with clothes, a tent, and a sleeping bag, and other things, and I lasted a couple months hiking around Japan.
What about this? Bottle for scale.
Websites post the allowed sizes on their websites, just simply look it up, measure, done.
thanks says ill be good
Shit bro I don't even see da bottle

i went to Ryanair withmy 55l backpack, which i had for checked luggage. they didn't do anything with it and just let it as carry on
