Yep, worked at a backpacker hostel in South Korea. I was friends with the guy who owned it and jokingly asked if I could be staff for a few months, he was like sure, when can you get here. It was fun, met a lot of friendly people and had some good times but I was done with that lifestyle after a few months, especially sleeping in a shared dorm every night.
I’ve done hostels for up to a month before and I was getting sick of it. Many months is impressive

define worth it. most ppl do it for fun, some ppl do it as a way to eventually get a work sponsorship and move to a country permanently, others do it to send the money back home with exchange rates to make bank

i mean, you go to the country and get whatever job you like anon.
some countries will require you do a couple of months of farm work to activate the visa
some others you're pretty much stuck doing general laboring or working in hospitality
basically, if you were a burger flipper back home you'll just be a burger flipper in some other country.
