I used to be confused when some people loved countries that were hell on earth for me, then understood they were literally carried from a place to another without any thought or effort to make at any point.
Now I just expect that it's the norm and we're a few pretentious Real Travelers left because we pop there without a plan and take public transport.

I've actually been to India myself. I've literally seen some shit, man. Also, celebrities have the ability to throw money at the problem.
I'd go in a blink. But there's a big difference going as a regular tourist and as a world celebrity with private security, escorted at all times, and staying in the best suites of upscale hotels.

worst place I have been to in my life and I have been to africa. 3 months there. Me and GF almost broke up there because the constant noise, incompetence, grime dirt and scammers and touts wore us down. do 2 weeks max to see the sights but anything more is torture. The North East and Kerala are fine though
I've been to India dozens of times and lived there for several years, too. It's by no means a paradise--it can be incredibly frustrating in a great many ways--but it's very diverse, and there are many things to do and see in every part of the country.
It's also not nearly as scam-ridden as most posters here seem to believe. Many Indians, at least outside of neighborhoods with heavy tourist footfall, are fairly honest and willing to go out of their way to help a visitor show them a good time. This is something that both India and Pakistan have in common: if you look foreign, people will talk to you, and you can make local connections without really trying.
(I'd probably give Pakistan a slight edge, because they receive so few tourists that there are scarcely any touts whatsoever)

India definitely isn't for everyone, and I can understand why some people wouldn't like it. But I've always gotten a kick out of homosexuals who act shocked when India isn't as efficient as whatever country they're from (e.g., some middle-aged German man screeching at railway staff because the train was ~2 hours late--"zees voot neffer happen in Germany!").

How long ago was your illness? Post viral issues can stay with you anywhere from 6 weeks to 8 months, depending on the severity. Two weeks of shitting and fever sounds like you had a pretty rough case too.
If you've been back more 2 weeks, you need to go to your doctor asap and get a urine and stool sample taken. It could be bacteria, viral or some type of parasite. I'd bet it's Campylobacter or Salmonella. Once they figure out what you, you're going to have to take a specific antibiotic or anti-viral medicine. Don't let it go. That shit can permanently damage your internal organs if you ignore it.
