Her last time overseas was 20+ years ago, I really want to take her to Scotland and Ireland and get some heritage tours in before she is too old to enjoy it.

My dad nearly managed to get himself into prison in one of the safest and most tourist-friendly countries of Earth (yeah, he's that stupid), so I'm 100% not going anywhere with him again. I took my mom to Denmark-Sweden in 2021 and then Spain last year. Rented a car and drove to bumfrick nowhere. It wasn’t luxury but it was very authentic and nice. She absolutely loved it and I am happy.

It kind of saddens me that my parents are 50s/60s and haven't been to Europe (we're Australian). Dad's been to some shit Asian countries (Thailand, Indonesia) and mum's been to America, but that's about it. But then again, when they were growing up, travelling overseas wasn't something most young people did. I guess they're also old enough to realise seeing European cities and all the historical buildings and monuments isn't such a big deal. I haven't travelled overseas yet, and even though I still want to, the older I get, the more I realise we're living in a small world, and going overseas probably wouldn't be some big adventure, and I'd probably be underwhelmed by it.
No, for two reasons
1) they are vastly wealthier than me (they're millionaires)
2) they're in their 70s, and while my dad is an athlete who can give teenagers a run for their money my mom spent her entire life overweight, eating junk food and sitting on the sofa so now her body is a wreck and she has the mobility of a 100+ year old. Seeing them side by sad is a potent reminder of how different our fates can be depending on how we take care of ourselves.
We're actually going to Hawaii on O'ahu (or I guess just Honolulu) right after Thanksgiving. Mom's been wanting to go her whole life, and she figured now would be the best time to go right before she retires.
Still trying to decide what we want to see and do. Pearl Harbor's definitely on the list, but I figure she'll want to see the natural beauty of the island as well.
The entire island of Oahu can be very easily driven. Top to bottom in like 30 minutes. North Shore is definitely a neat place. You should check out other islands too, if you can.

Yeah, they've begun traveling abroad with my little sister to keep them company. They often use their own MasterCards, but I also allow them to use my Tap debit card for quicker and smoother transactions. Their next stop is Spain.
