how long would 500k last in a decent state?
I would just use it to buy a house. could last a very long time if you just rent a small apartment though
Depends if you have a job for supplemental income or if you're living completely off the 500k. If you've got a decent job, just use the money to straight up buy a house and use your income after that.

Tbh this has been a big issue for me recently. I've been trying to figure out what language to study, with a potential long term goal of living there eventually. I'm a nurse and only a handful of euro countries actually pay well. I'd have to go with denmark, because the god awful language wouldn't be as big an issue if I was already fluent, the pay is decent, QOL good, and it opens up the rest of the nordics if I'm willing to train or ferry over. Fr*nch are complete fricking buttholes and pay is shit, germany is living 30 years in the past re: digitization and it's boomer ruling class is trashcanning their economy, the meds are poor and corrupt, UK healthcare system is collapsing and would pay me $15/hr. Poland isn't developed enough for a healthcare professional to make a decent salary. Honestly the whole region is shit if you want to work in healthcare except for NL and Scandinavia/Iceland (not Finland).
