As other have said the best countries for a beginner are probably Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.
All three offer great nature and beautiful parks full of wildlife.
If you are to scared to travel around there alone look into stuff like overland tours, they are also a great way to see a lot of different stuff in a short time, as they cover a lot of ground quickly and offer activities like safaris, wildlife hikes or boat tours, so you dont have to worry about that stuff yourself
South Africa has the most natural diversity of these countries and has lots of tourism amenities.
It is not dangerous if you stay out of bad areas and use common sense.
I would recomend going to the Drakensberge if you like hiking and stunning views.
For wildlife Addo Elephant and Kruger NP are the classics for a reason, i managed to see the big five in single day.
An easy beginner trip would be the Garden Route if you want rent a car and drive yourself.
Cape Town has some lovely corners, Durban and Johannesburg are shitholes though.
Namibia is my personal favourite.
It is pretty empty and open.
There are great dessert landscapes, while being more diverse than i expected.
I would recomend the Etosha NP for wildlife with nice background.
Sossusvlei with the sand dunes around is also pretty unique.
Spitzkoppe(Pic) is worth a vist, as is the Fish River Canyon
Botswana is the least touristic of the three, which can be positve or a negative for you.
There Chobe NP and the Okawanga Delta(Pic) are the highlights

I’ve been on safari in Kenya; the national parks (of which I’ve visited five out of something like 20) are superb and diverse. The food mostly sucks, unless you’re passionate about burned meat and cornmeal mush with a side of greens, but in the cities there are pretty good Indian and Ethiopian restaurants, among others, and Nairobi, while nearly as sketchy as its reputation, had a pretty solid bar and nightclub scene.
Corruption is endemic but a tourist will never notice it, and crime is easily avoided as long as you stay in a high-end hotel and don’t walk around too much by yourself at night. Just make friends with a cab driver to be your dedicated chauffeur/guide while in the city and nothing will happen to you.
To the coomers, I’ll just say, yeah, you can do that. I am married so I did not try to score, but regular (non-hooker) girls were all over me in bars and clubs.
